Spring is in the Air!!!

Well it has been almost two weeks since I last wrote in this blog. I had a family emergency and had to return to PEI for a bit and am now just getting back into the swing of things. Everything is going to be fine. I really enjoy PEI, it is a very calming place to live.

Due to my absence I do not have a whole lot to report here. I think the most important event was the International Women's Day celebrations that were held last Wednesday by Coverdale Centre. The event was very well attended and our Many Faces of Violence committee launched our new website: www.takethequest.com Please visit this website for a chance to win a great prize as well as to find lots of helpful information on Domestic Violence. Kudos to all who made the day such a great success! And thanks to my French teacher for letting me skip class that night.

This past weekend I spent alot of time renovating a room in our house so do not have a lot of news. I did take the time though to attend the Irish Canadian Cultural Association Supper on Saturday night. It was an interesting event and this was my first year in attendance. I do think I qulaified as the youngest person in attendance. I worry about the continuance of these events in the future. Hopefully young people will start taking an active interest.

Lastly, I would like to profile an event on Tuesday night of this week. The Social Activism Committee of FUSION will be showcasing a film at the Church of St. Andrew and St. David (164 Germain Street) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14th. The film being shown is called "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price" and it takes you behind the glitz of this major company and into the real lives of workers and families, business owners and their communities in an extraordinary journey that will challenge the way you think, feel…and shop.

I will try and get back into the habit of writing in this blog. Like I said, my mind has just been elsewhere lately. Have a great week and hopefully the weather will stay warm.
