Week 8 of Campaign

Hello Everyone,

Only two weeks left until the election! Can you believe it? I want to give you all a quick update but there will not be any picture this week as I am in Halifax for the next few days and therefore do not have access to my computer. I am here to write an exam for my Masters in Public Administration. I will be back in Saint John on Wednesday evening and will hopefully have some time to prepare for the debate on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM at St. Malachy's School.

Luckily, I have a wonderful campaign team that is going to continue the momentum we have built, in my absence. They will continue door to door canvassing and the weekly "waves at traffic." I am also scheduled to go on 103.5 on Thursday at 5:00 PM for those of you who like to listen to radio.

We have now done door to door in the North, South, East and West of the City and have got a wonderful response from the citizens of Saint John. We, of course, will be going back to different areas in these locations to continue but we realize it is impossible to get to every door so we hope that you may spread the word. I have also continued to receive emails and phone calls of support and thank you all for your positive thoughts and comments.

Advance polls occur on May 3rd and 5th so voting begins soon.

Our team is very confident and the website (www.dannyjardine.com) has over 25,000 pages viewed!! I remain committed to every citizen and am not affiliating myself with any special interest groups as some candidates are beginning to do. In fact, I find this practice very disheartening considering the citizens at every door are looking for a transparent and accountable candidate at the table.

Anyway, keep spreading the name Jardine and I look forward to getting back on the campaign trail after this exam is over on Wednesday.

Week 7 of Campaign

Hi Everyone,

It is hard to believe that there is only 3 weeks left until election day. I wanted to give you all a quick update on the past week. We started door to door canvassing last week. To date, we have only been in several areas of the West side, but the response has been almost 100% positive. Most people have been to the website already, have seen the signs or "have heard good things from friends." This has been very positive and tells me that our campaign, to date, has been effective. All our signs are now up as well, so please fix any you see knocked down. We have done one "wave at cars" on the causeway thus far and plan to do a "wave" on Simms corner on Monday morning. I will be continuing door to door in the East every evening this week. The website traffic also continues to increase with over 20,000 page views to date. All in all, the momentum is growing and I hope you can continue to do any little thing to spread my name.

Next Sunday, I will be heading to Halifax for a few days to write the exam for my "Managerial and Financial Accounting" course which is part of my Masters in Public Administration. However, the team will keep going in my absence.

This week, some of the visits to senior homes are beginning. To be truthful, this is one of my favorite parts of the campaign. I love interacting with seniors and hearing all the history they have in their heads. I find these visits quite relaxing and enjoyable. The weather has also been wonderful for being out and about it the community. Let's hope it keeps up!

Week 6 of Campaign

Hi Everyone,

I thought I would get a quick update on the campaign out before we head out to put up the rest of the signs. By the end of today all of our signs will be out. On Saturday we spent some time at the City Market and the response was wonderful. The Door to Door campaigning will begin on Monday evening.

The campaign is going very well and the momentum and support is growing. We will be officially launching the platform on Thursday, April 17th at 11:30 A.M. in the City Market Solarium. Please come out and show your support. Take as many people as want as well.

The nominations have now officially closed and there are eight individuals running at-large. Only two will be selected by the citizens as their councillors at-large. I have been receiving a tremendous amount of support and feel very confident that one of those individuals will be myself. However, everyone must continue to tell people my name and direct them to my website (http://www.dannyjardine.com/).

One thing I have noticed talking with citizens to date, is that many still do not understand the new ward system. I have been explaining the structure to many people, but wanted to let everyone know that my website also has valuable election information on it. I want as many people out to vote during this election and would hate to see a lack of knowledge around the system prevent voting.

Finally, I wanted to make everyone aware that we have posted a calendar of events (my schedule for the next month :-)) on the website so have a look and feel free to come out and support me at any of the events.

By the time I blog next week, I will have been to many doors and hope to be able to update you all on the buzz in the community.

Week 5 of Campaign

Hello Everyone,

Just a little over one month until election day (May 12th).....can you believe it? Much of this past week has been spent on the phone contacting the many leaders we have in our community and asking for their support. I must say that I have not had a negative comment to date. There is a lot of support out there and it is building more momentum each day. The door to door canvassing and phone canvassing has begun so you may hear or see me in the very near future. I will be having a meeting for anyone interested in doing door to door or calling on April 8th at 6PM at 220 Germain Street. You're more than welcome to attend. We have also uploaded material to our website (http://www.dannyjardine.com/) so that any citizen can download a poster and display it proudly in their window. We also now have "Join Jardine" buttons so if you are interested in wearing one please let us know. The road signs will be going up by next weekend for sure.

I have been getting many calls from citizens wondering how they can help out with my campaign so I have developed the "Simple Ways You Can Help" list below:

The Communications Team is currently developing a platform release event and the tentative date is April 17th at lunch. More information will be available shortly. My schedule for the final month is also being prepared and will be posted on the website so everyone can join us for as many events as possible.

Nominations close this week and thus far only two other candidates have entered the at-large race and we are more confident than ever that we will be successful.
