Last Tuesday I had lunch with my Masters thesis supervisor from UNBSJ. It was nice as we really had not chatted since I defended my thesis back in October 2004. Time flys when you are busy. I did get me thinking though of what degree I might do next. I feel lerning is a life long activity and I am bound to do another degree sometime in the future. I have so many interests though so it makes it very difficult (law, medicine, sociology, healthcare administration....). Only time will tell.
On Tuesday night of last week I attended the FUSION Social Activism Committee monthly movie. It was a thought provoking movie entitled, "Walmart: The High Cost of Low Prices". The website for the movie can be found by clicking here. The documentary provides a somewhat bias perspective of the negative impact that Walmart has on the communities it develops in. I would recommend watching the documentary, with an open mind of course.
I had my weekly French class at the N.B. Community College on Wednesday night. We had a test too which I didn't know about because I missed the last class due to the International Women's Day celebrations. This past weekend we travelled to PEI again as it was my brother's birthday. It was a nice relaxing weekend although the flu has been taking its toll on my family. Luckily I have yet to catch it: knock on wood. It also gave me the chance to get to Veseys to get my vegetable seeds for the garden.
It was my dog, Bradford's, birthday on Monday. He is 2 years old now, but we have only had him for a year. We got him as he was on his way to the Animal Rescue League, which is another wonderful organization in the city. His picture is being featured in my blog this week! He is a great companion and exercise buddy.

Today I had the opportunity to pair up another mentor with a mentee. "Fuse the Gap" is a program that FUSION and the Business Community Anti-Poverty Initiative developed in response to the barriers to emloyment for many in our community. I co-chair this committee and so far we have 5 mentees paired up with FUSION mentors. This pilot project has been a great success thus far.
Anyway, that is all for now. I hope everyone is healthy and happy. Again, if you have comments or would like to get involved in any of the initiatives I am working please feel free to email dannyj@nbnet.nb.ca.
Question of the day: When will people learn how to drive safely?
